About Me

My name is Gerhard (pronounced GEHR-HHaaRT not JHah-RAARD). I’m a spatial professional with a creative streak. I believe in a world enriched by location information. Understanding how people and places relate to the earth through the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is what I do.

I have been working with GIS as a Geospatial Analyst since 2012, both in New Zealand and overseas. I produce rich, accessible geospatial insights and specialise in tailored, customer-focused solutions. I have a background in graphic design and a healthy obsession with geospatial solutions that exhibit good visual design and composition. My curriculum vitae is available on upon request.

Where I’m from, on a global scale.

I was born and raised in New Zealand with a strong appreciation for being outdoors. Consequently, I have a passion for hiking in the backcountry and finding untouched places. I share my outdoor skills as an adult leader with SCOUTS New Zealand; completing my leadership training and earning my Wood Badge beads and 1st Gilwell Group neckerchief in May, 2017. I also earned the St. George’s Scout Award and was awarded the Baden-Powell Award, both in April 2019.

Hello

I’m Gerhard Lanz—a spatial professional with a creative streak. I believe in a world enriched by location information.

I have been working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as a Geospatial Analyst since 2012. If I’m not sitting in a room lit only by glow of raster data, you can probably find me in the great outdoors.
